I'm taking a stats class here at SBU that is held in the month of January. I read the first chapter this morning, and I think I'm going to enjoy it. It's an online class, so there is lots of interaction in the chat rooms and forums.
I'm not going to be able to post every day in January. But keep checking in...

My Dad
Mom called me yesterday to tell me that Dad had gone to the ER in some serious pain. He got up at 2 am on New Years morning and finally went in to the hospital at 9 am. As it turns out, he had a kidney stone. He got something for pain, ran some tests, and returned to Summersville in the early afternoon.
I've heard that's one of the most painful experiences life offers.
I talked to Dad last night and he hasn't been in any more pain, so he thinks he may have passed the stone. I'm praying that he has.
Feel better Dad. Rest well and take it easy until this is over.

Christmas Eve Service
I've been thinking about the Christmas Eve service we had at the Esquire. A year ago, on Christmas 2006, I sat in the back row, and remember that service being very warm, friendly, welcoming, and relaxing.
A lot has happened in 2007.
This year, I stood on the other side of the room, in front, and faced the crowd. I knew more people in attendance. We've started friendships. Many of us serve together at the Esquire. I'm beginning to know some of their struggles, challenges, and strengths. We met for only 40 minutes. We had music, a reading, and a candle-light reminder. I spoke for about 14-15 minutes. It wasn't the 'typical' Esquire crowd.
Sitting in that back row in 2006, I never would have thought I would be standing up there in 2007. It goes to show you again that God can do strong things through very weak people.

New Years Eve
I've really wanted to start this blog for a few weeks, but kept putting it off until the new year.
My boys began their relationship with Jesus on December 23, 2007. It was one of the very most special moments of my life. After church that Sunday, Rhonda and I talked and prayed with them in our living room as they made their decision. Yesterday (December 30) they walked forward during the invitational hymn to make their decision public.
Yesterday was Rhonda's birthday. Happy Birthday Cutie!
